The regular specialized line between the ports of Vanino (Khabarovsk Krai) and Kholmsk (Sakhalin Oblast) is currently served by three diesel-electric ships of the Sakhalin type, which provide daily cargo transportation, and on two of the three ships, passenger transportation to and from the island.
