ABOUT THE DIRECTION
The regular specialized line between the ports of Vanino (Khabarovsk Krai) and Kholmsk (Sakhalin Oblast) is currently served by three diesel-electric ships of the Sakhalin type, which provide daily cargo transportation, and on two of the three ships, passenger transportation to and from the island.
Despite the fact that the main purpose of this line is the transportation of goods in railway cars and heavy-duty vehicles, SASCO also carries out regular passenger transportation on the diesel-electric ships Sakhalin-8 and Sakhalin-9.
On average, more than 20,000 people are transported along the line per year. In terms of passenger turnover between Sakhalin and the mainland, SASCO is one of the largest carriers in the Far East, along with various airlines.

The duration of the voyage between the ports of Vanino and Kholmsk is from 18 to 20 hours, depending on the weather conditions in the Tatar Strait.
